We are absolutely delighted to share some amazing news with you…

the unveiling of our new on-site playground!

The project – which was funded by the Morrisons’ ‘Building a Legacy Together’ grant – is funded through Morrisons partnership with Together for Short Lives

It was a truly unforgettable day at the hospice, particularly for Annie, who at two years old, embarked on her very first day with us. She couldn’t contain her excitement as she experienced the joy of bouncing on a trampoline for the first time (pictured below).

Five-year-old George had a blast swinging and playing with the musical chimes, while Grayson, also five, was all smiles as he whirled around on the wheelchair-accessible roundabout. For parents, staff and all involved it was heart-warming to see children embracing the new playground and having so much fun at our hospice.

To meet the needs of every child we support, the space is fully equipped with sensory equipment as well as catering to children with mobility aids, so everyone can have fun in the playground.

Representatives from Morrisons, Together for Short Lives as well as fundraising and nursing teams from Zoe’s enjoyed seeing the impact of the new playground as families enjoyed the space for the first time.

The significant partnership between Morrisons and Together for Short Lives commenced over 2 years ago in February 2022 to generate crucial funds for children’s hospices nationwide. It’s been instrumental in enabling families to create precious memories together.

Morrisons Corporate Affairs Director, David Scott said:

“As part of Morrisons’ commitment to giving back to our communities, we are proud to be funding the playground at Zoe’s Place through our partnership with Together for Short Lives.

This is what the Building a Legacy Together Grant is all about. We are confident that the playground will make a difference to the families Zoe’s Place support.”

Together for Short Lives Director of Fundraising, Nick Carroll said:

“We are proud to see the fruits of our partnership with Morrisons come to life in such a meaningful way. The new playground at Zoe’s Place was made possible by the Building a Legacy Grant, with thanks to Morrisons partnership fundraising.

The grant, which was launched last summer, has already had a huge impact on a number of hospices across the country just like Zoe’s Place. We know that this new playground will make a huge difference for the families supported by Zoe’s Place in Middlesbrough.”

Zoe’s Place, Head of Care, Beth Hill, said:

“We are immensely thankful to Morrisons for their generous support in funding this project. The new playground not only enhances the quality of life for the children and families we serve but also symbolises our commitment to providing inclusive and accessible environments.”

Morrisons hopes to raise £10 million for the partnership by October 2024.
