We’d like to say a big thank you to the North East VW Club, who annually pop into our hospice with a huge donation of Easter eggs… and this year is no different!

The car and van enthusiasts have been supporting us for nearly 2 decades now, but each year we’re just as grateful.

Members of the public are asked to attend Acklam Hall with their donations, where the club top up their vans with donations they have already collected… and this year, over 1,000 were passed over to us!

As you can see, it’s always a sight to behold when they arrive!

For Stephen Lambert at the club, supporting Zoe’s Place has always been close to his heart. He said:

“From the clubs inception, it didn’t take long to come up with a worthwhile cause that members could associate with.”

“Every possible year, come rain or shine, we take great pleasure and pride in doing something to help others, and we decided early on it would be for local children! We have a really good time in the process.”

The continued donations are a huge help to our hospice, and the donations go towards tombola’s and events we host in the local community – with all proceeds of sales coming straight to us, which helps with the overall cost of running our hospice.

Rachael Bareham, Community and Events Fundraiser, Rachael reminisces on the 17 years of support that Stephen and his fellow members have provided to Zoe’s Place…

She said: “The support that the club have shown is incredible and we are so grateful for their ongoing commitment to our charity.”

“Thousands of Easter eggs have been donated over the years, resulting in of multiple thousands in cash raised. Its thanks to groups like this that we can raise the £1.5 million we need (in running costs) each year.”
