This is the amazing Rachel Beer Magoolagan!

She’s an avid runner who has previously taken part in sporting activities (including the Great North Run) for our charity.

Recently she ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon for us too, and we’re very happy to report that she managed to complete it in 2 hours 17 minutes and 52 seconds – a whopping 10 minutes and 30 seconds quicker than her Great North run efforts.

Rachel’s motivation comes from her daughter Annabelle, who regularly visits our hospice to give mum and her partner some respite.

Annabelle suffers with a condition called Moya Moya, something which led to her having approximately 8 strokes in the first year of her life, each stroke affecting a different area of her brain.

As a result of these strokes, she needed two major surgeries to re-vasculise her brain, she has severe epilepsy, extreme hypertension, is visually impaired, has cerebral palsy and is non-mobile & non-verbal.

When we recently spoke to her about her fundraising efforts in London, she said:

“I love raising awareness for the amazing work that Zoe’s Place do. As a family we would be lost without the care given Annabelle.”  I felt extremely proud to be running round the sights of London in my bright yellow Zoe’s Place vest. It was an amazing occasion.”

“I am overwhelmed once again by everyone’s generosity and very thankful for the support I’ve had throughout.”
