For the third consecutive year, the incredible One Team Charity Cycle Team have cycled the 128km journey from Humberside to Teesside, the two land locations of the East Coast Cluster carbon capture and storage projects. This annual event is a celebration of the Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power), Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) and H2Teesside project teams’ progress to date and moreover, it helps to raise vital funds for our hospice and the families that we support.

On Saturday 25th May 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming the 12 riders – made up of project team members from BP, Wood, and Equinor – across the finish line at our hospice. With donations still coming in from this year’s ride the team have already raised a staggering £11,469!

Duncan Cameron, Project Engineer, NZT Power / NEP said: “For the last three years, we’ve had the privilege of supporting Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice as part of the annual One Team Charity Cycle.

It has become a hugely important annual event in the calendar for us, both for raising money for this amazing charity and for recognising the progress being made on the NZT Power, NEP and H2Teesside projects.

On behalf of the 12 riders who completed this year’s 128km route stretching from the Humberside to Teesside, I’d like to express a huge thank you to all who supported us – in particular: our sponsor companies; friends, family; members of the project teams; and the wonderful staff at Zoe’s Place Middlesbrough who always give us such a warm welcome at the finish line.”

Since the One Team Charity Cycle began, the team have raised over an incredible £21,500 for our hospice, making a significant difference to the lives of the children and families we support.

Our Corporate Fundraiser, Ashleigh Wood said: “The support we have received and continue to receive from the project teams, is incredible! Their commitment and generosity has enabled us to be a lifeline for families, often during their toughest times. We’re excited to continue building the relationship between Zoe’s Place and the projects and who knows, maybe next year, we’ll join them on the ride!”

A huge thank you to this year’s superstar cyclists who joined us from Teesside, London and Norway: Duncan Cameron, Andrey Kovalev, Mark Taylor, Chris Yates, Bridget King, Jack Bottomley, Igor Orlov, Sarah Jones, Ryan Walton, James Forgarty & David Grainger. Together, they have helped us to continue to support children and their families to live life to its fullest.

Zoe’s Place is the UK’s only baby hospice charity. Our expert team of carers and nurses provide respite care for children aged 0-5 with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. From each of our hospices we offer a home-from-home filled with compassion and joy, supporting families to build memories that last a lifetime. We are often described as a ‘lifeline’ for those we support; we are grateful to our supporters who empower us to be there for families when they need us most.
