Recently, staff from EE in Darlington took on an 8-week fundraising challenge for our charity.

We were overwhelmed by the £11,792.82 made by the team, who took part in a variety of activities including a bungee jump, sky dive, bake sales, a sponsored Roseberry Topping walk, and a family fun day.

The fundraising began as a result of EE’s first ‘Summer of Founders’ Roadshow across each site in the UK. This initiative enabled staff to nominate charities of their choice for the 8-week fundraising campaign – at which point Zoe’s Place was put forward by the Darlington team.

Corporate Fundraiser Ashleigh Wood said: “We always get extremely excited when local organisations offer to support us. It’s great when companies allow their staff time out to enjoy each other’s company as well.”

“EE have exceeded our expectations, and the donation will go a long way in to helping the children we care for.”

In line with their corporate social responsibility strategy, EE give all staff three days of volunteering a year. They believe it’s a good way for teams to get out of the office and to reset, boost morale and improve mental wellbeing.

Representatives from the company said:

“Throughout the fundraising campaign, the teams’ dedication and creativity in fundraising has been outstanding. It was overwhelming when we got the final total in and it has been an absolute pleasure to work with each and every individual involved.”

“With Zoe’s Place being a local charity, we were able to come in and see the difference they make to support children in our area as well.”

“When we had a tour of the hospice, it was amazing to see where the money raised goes & to see the difference it makes.”

That’s not the end of their fundraising adventure though.

That’s because the team are already planning a Christmas Market raising funds for local charities, and one of the beneficiaries will be our hospice!

On site, they have a fantastic little ‘book nook’ where staff can purchase items in exchange for a donation to the hospice too.

Alongside this, the team have already been eyeing up our 20th Anniversary Ball & Let’s do Lunch events, and staff are keen to use some of their volunteering days by helping at upcoming events.
