There were plenty of smiles at Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice when players from Coventry City FC dropped in for a special visit earlier this month.

The Sky Blues team spent the afternoon meeting our children and their families, chatting with parents and staff and even enjoying a fun kick-around with some of the children. Smiles filled the building as the players took time to get to know everyone and help create some really special moments.

Joel Latibeaudiere said: “The visit was really nice. We got shown around, met some great kids and I think it’s important for us to show our support for the parents and the kids that are going through a tough time. It gives them a bit of a break, so coming here was really good.”

Liam Kitching also shared how much the visit meant to him. “It’s nice to come here and see smiles on people’s faces and to make people happy. It’s a bit of time out of our day but it means a lot to them, so it was good to come down, meet the children and see all the hard work that the staff do here.”

During their visit, the players were given a tour of the hospice and learned more about the incredible work the Zoe’s Place team does every day. Our hospice provides specialist respite, palliative and end-of-life care for babies and young children aged 0–5 with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, supporting families across the region since opening in Coventry in 2011.

Bobby Thomas added: “It was a really humbling experience to see the work the staff are putting in to look after the children. The care they give is amazing, so hats off to them.”

For the children, families and staff at Zoe’s Place, visits like this bring a real lift.

Tracey our Head of Care shared:
“Having the Coventry City players spend time with our children and families means so much to everyone here. Their visit really lifted the hospice and helped shine a light on the care and support we provide every day.”
