A Coventry children’s hospice has received a £1,000-plus boost after a senior staff member of a Nuneaton-based company completed a half marathon.

Helen Gemmell, the chief marketing officer for online bathroom retailer, ran the Bedford Half Marathon in aid of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, which provides care and support for young children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. has raised more than £7,600 for Zoe’s Place since becoming a partner of the charity.

Helen raised £1,045 as she completed the course in 2 hours 22 minutes.

She said: “I’m thrilled with the amount of money which was raised.

“Zoe’s Place is a fantastic charity and it’s impossible not to be touched and inspired by the children and families, as well as the staff providing the care and support they do.

“There were some tough times on the course and a lot of hard training before the event, but the thought of raising vital funds for Zoe’s Place was certainly a driving force.”

Muna Chauhan, corporate manager for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, added: “We are hugely appreciative of Helen’s efforts, both in terms of completing the half marathon and raising the fantastic amount of money she did.

“We have to raise £1.4 million per year to achieve our mantra of making the hospice a ‘home from home’ for the children and their families, keeping the facilities updated and providing more hours of care.

“Support from all helps us towards achieving that target and is hugely appreciated.”
