Local Grandad smashes his target by miles!
Published date: 06 October 2017
How has your last 6 weeks been? Im sure our readers have achieved some fantastic goals in that time, but I doubt many could match Peter Martins epic adventure!
Peter, a local grandad and 72 years old, has spent the last 6 weeks walking the total length of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. That is 545 miles overall with plenty of uphill’s along the way.
Sunday [8th October 2017] is Peter’s last day, and we would love to send him a whole heap of encouragement as he completes this incredible journey. I am sure that Peter is looking forward to getting home to his family for a well-deserved rest and it will seem a very long day!
Not only has Peter completed an incredible physical challenge but he has raised an incredible amount of money for Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice too. Smashing his orignial target of £500 he has now raised over £2000 in fact! This is nearly £4 for every mile that Peter has walked, and that is a lot of miles!
We want to wish Peter a safe end to his pilgrimage and a safe journey home. We also want to send a HUGE big THANK YOU for supporting Zoë’s Place, without a doubt the money raised will make a big difference to the families that rely on our care.
