#HospiceCareWeek - Spotlight on Nurses.
Published date: 10 October 2017
Nurses are the heart of our hospice........
Lottie at work (and play!) at the hospice.
As part of #HospiceCareWeek we focus on our amazing team of nurses and support staff who make Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice the special place it is. We asked our Nurse and Team leader Charlotte, otherwise known as Lottie, to tell us a bit about her role at Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.
"As a nurse and Team Leader, I have a very diverse role here at Zoë’s Place, which makes every day special. The job isn’t just about caring for children at end of life, although this is part of it. It is about ensuring that the children and families are well supported and are able to experience activities that otherwise they may not get a chance to do.

There is nothing better than being able to fulfil an activity on a child’s bucket list such as taking a child swimming for the first time for instance. We are very lucky here at Zoë’s Place in that we have access to a swimming pool designed for children with special needs. We also have some specialist equipment that would be out of the remit of many parents but are incredibly helpful in helping a child’s development. For example, our lifelites equipment enable children to communicate and interact with their eyes! How incredible is that!
I feel very privileged to be a nurse at Zoë’s Place and to be part of an amazing team."
Its plain to see how our nurses are adored!
Our nurses and support staff are at the heart of our hospice, tailoring care packages to help each child achieve their best potential. It costs around £25.00 for one hour of one to one care and you could be a #OneHourHero by giving an hour of your time to raise an hour of care. Just contact our fundraising team on 02476 361675 for more information.
